Competition
of ADF/Cofilins with other ABPs |
| The
binding of
AC with F-actin is complicated by the fact that this results in a
distinct alteration in the twist of the filament. This change
indirectly alters the ability of other ABPs to bind the filament.
As an extreme example, it is known that phalloidin binds very tightly to
F-actin but despite this cofilin binding effectively blocks phalloidin
binding. The phalloidin binding site on actin is not near the AC
binding site proposed by a number of groups.
