Extracted
from the sea hare Dolabella auricularia, the dolastatins are a
group of actin-binding drugs that competes with phalloidin for binding (Bai
et al, 2002).
The drug like (-)-doliculide isolated from the same sea hare dolastatins
are suspected of actually accumulating in the sea hare from
cyanobacteria it is feeding on. The structure of dolastatins are
similar to phalloidin.
