RNA-binding protein that binds actin (Percipalle
et al, 2001),
and the Balbiani Ring (BR) particle, in both the nucleus and the
cytoplasm. Hrp36 is added cotranscriptionally with BR-specific
mRNA and transported into the cytosol via the nuclear pore. As
actin contains two leptomyxin sensitive nuclear export signals (Wada
et al, 1998),
it is possible that the BR particle is directed out of the nucleus via
these sites on actin. |
